A Question on General, Trade, and Archetype/Subtype-Specific Skills Options

When reading through the post about skills, abilities, archetypes, and subtypes, I noticed that it was mentioned that one could have 7 general skills.

Does general skills infer that you pick 7 skills available to everyone, then your Archetype/subtype, and then your subtype skills? Or, does it mean that you can choose to have 7 skills including your archetype skills: IE, you can go with an archetype and then 2 subtype skills, and you have 4 more skills to choose from, if you choose 2 trade skills, you are down to 2 skills to choose from?

Also, will one be able to go beyond 7 skills in some way (like by buying additional slots with credits)?

The seven general skills are seven skills picked from a pool of skills that everyone has access to, which are the general or common skills. Then you pick your three professional skills, which include your archetype skills.
