So I got to thinking about the idea of a 'technomage'.
Surely they can manipulate the forces of the universe to create 'magical' effects (which will be a blasty-blast explaining in a modern setting, trying to rationalize). But what if you just broke it down to be a simple 'I know so much about technology I can do things with it that would make ordinary people think I'm some sort of crazy superbeing?'
Maybe that isn't so simple.
GRAFTING

Basically, you've become so damn knowledgable with the physiologies of the galaxy's species and the hyper-advanced technology you love so much, you can merge the two together to create startling results. Where genetic alterations are just that, alterations, the Grafter bonds science to life for their own use.
I've got ideas rambling in my head about Grafting being used to augment other players too, to a lesser degree, but here I go with the preliminary skill list.
While the defenses that are granted via grafting are permanent turn-on defenses, when shorted out the grafts leave the host and must be reimplanted. Keep in mind that some of these ideas are time-sensitive, some are location sensitive, and some require other skills to work.
Oh, and that I'm coming back and working on this as I go.
Augment - The basal processes of Grafting. (one point for you, two points for other people, three points for complicated grafts)
Vision - Lenses can be used for more than reading. (defense to give nightvision, trueblind, or a thermal form of farsight)
Hearing - Sensors listen to what you cannot. (defense to give ranged hearing, truedeaf, or faster CONCENTRATE)
Shoulders - Strength like steel. (raises strength, lowers dex)
Hands - Digits more precise than your own. (give a permanent grip defense, up dexterity, or augment a tech-skill that requires the hands)

(insert health-regen defense here for chest, asthma defense here for chest, con up for chest)
(insert writhe faster defense for legs, jumping increase for legs, dex up for legs)
